German Signaller

Did some DIY at the weekend so not much time for the hobby except for some basing, but here's a pic of my entry to the current Steve Dean Painting Competition. He's just been knocked out in round three. I had hoped he would get to the quarter finals but hey, thats life! Was a great figure to paint and I really enjoyed it, especially the signal patch, didn't think my hand would hold steady but it did! Field grey is difficult to make look interesting. I painted his field blouse as an earlier war version (M1940), with a greener hue than the later tunics. I think it made a nice contrast with the rest of the uniform.

Hi Bren, I kept voting for this little chap in the SD comp. This is your best figure to date. Lovely expressive work, especially on the face.

Thanks Martin, and cheers for the votes, it was close for a while but he lost out in the end!

I was very happy with the results I got from the German Vallejo colours. Took a fair while to finish him off. Will just have to keep plugging away at the comp though ;-)

Maybe I ought to get round to entering one time soon...

You really should have a go at the comp Martin, I find it helps keep me motivated.

I don't take it that seriously but it helps set goals like finishing a mini or two on time. But of course time is the problem most of the time (if you know what I mean!)
